CuO supported on COK-12 and SBA-15 ordered mesoporous materials for temperature swing SOx adsorption

Ordered mesoporous SBA-15 and COK-12 supports with similar mesopore diameter were loaded 15 wt% of CuO evaluated as adsorbents in a desulfurization process involving SOx adsorption regeneration. Both have hexagonal arrangement parallel tubular mesopores. The impact relatively small differences the structural textural properties two on regenerability is investigated. After impregnation copper nitrate solution calcination at 500 °C, samples do not show any characteristic XRD pattern copper-based phases, confirming highly dispersed state CuO, which also checked by Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM). COK-CuO15 sample has slightly higher porosity than SBA-CuO15 sample. pore volume both reduced after impregnation-calcination shaping (Pelletized, Crushed Sieved – PCS) steps. As for its adsorptive properties, fifteen adsorption-regeneration cycles 400 COK-CuO15_PCS exhibits dynamic total capacities those SBA-CuO15_PCS adsorbent. In addition, preserve their over cycles. support active phase provides very promising results comparison literature data
